The winter storm is not yet over.
More than 170,000 people in the eastern United States did not have power early Monday morning after a massive winter storm slammed the region. The National Weather Services said that the most outages were reported in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
In a memo Monday morning, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said that between 12 and 18 inches of snow will accumulate in western New York during the day, and between 8 and 14 inches in Genesee Valley, Finger Lakes, and east Lake Ontario. New York City remains under a severe thunderstorm warning, and high winds across the area are causing flight cancellations.
The massive winter storm-affected areas as far south as Florida reported a tornado with winds reaching 118 mph.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For state and local officials as they monitor the weather and issue warnings and alerts.
- For first responders who try to help those in need as the storm continues.
- For those who are in the regions of the winter storm, and particularly those who have lost power.
- For power company workers who are actively working to restore the electricity.
